They're basically the same speed as SOR2 on mania, but now you can run, roll, use a special for free (most of the time), and move immediately after attacking (this is my big issue with the second game you throw a punch and then you're stuck in place for long enough that in certain situations you can't follow up on a stunned enemy or avoid getting hit). The enemy speed in the 3rd game is pretty nuts, but I've always felt like you were given the tools to manage it. This is very annoying and why I dislike the 3rd game more than anything else I mean, I get that Axel's fat ass probably had a donut too many between the 2nd and 3rd game (as is apparent by his appearance), but all of the characters are slow.
I get that you can run in SOR 3 which is a cool feature, but I feel it's tedious and shouldn't have to be used constantly. In 3 the heros walk slower and the enemies walk faster than they did in 2 (this could be false, but I don't believe I am wrong on this). You are totally right about the 1st game having no hacks. As for the others, the Steven Seagal sounds hilarious, but none of them really look interesting enough to play IMO. I just think it's BS Adam didn't make the second game while Axel and Blaze are in all 3. Syndicate wars I'm sure is cool, but I don't need all of those playable characters.

I guess my biggest lack of understanding because I don't have any of this stuff downloaded is on they offer up patches that when paired with the game alter it to create a "new game." How do you get these all into a single file to be able to dump onto an emulator? Please excuse my naivety. I've always played legit games or repro that a friend made me as, in all honestly, the hunt was damn near as fun or more fun than playing video games. I am 100% a novice when it comes to emulators and everything that comes with them. BlastEm is probably your best bet for the Genesis right now. Try to test the roms on emulators that prioritize accuracy. Hacks that work flawlessly on cycle-accurate emulators are virtually guaranteed to work on original hardware.
